Important update from Extreme Broadband regarding COVID-19 operations.
The COVID-19 pandemic presents an unprecedented challenge to communities, businesses, and healthcare systems worldwide. As a provider of critical network infrastructure in Malaysia, Extreme Broadband recognises both our responsibility and our role in keeping the nation connected during this difficult period.
Business Continuity and Network Operations
Our Network Operations Centre (NOC) continues to operate 24/7. We have activated our business continuity plan, which includes split-team arrangements and remote monitoring capabilities that allow our engineers to manage network performance from secure locations. Core network routing, peering sessions at JBIX, and data centre operations remain fully staffed and operational.
Since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was announced, we have observed a significant increase in bandwidth utilisation across our network, driven by remote working, video conferencing, and increased streaming activity. Our infrastructure has been provisioned with headroom for exactly this kind of demand surge, and we are actively monitoring all links to ensure quality of service is maintained.
Safety of Our People
The health and safety of our employees is our top priority. All office-based staff are working from home. For field technicians and data centre personnel whose presence on-site is essential, we have implemented strict hygiene protocols, temperature screening, and staggered shift schedules to minimise contact. Personal protective equipment has been distributed to every frontline team member.
Customer Support
Our customer support channels remain open. Technical support is available via email and phone during normal business hours, and emergency fault reporting is available around the clock through our NOC hotline. While physical site visits for new installations may experience delays due to MCO restrictions, we are prioritising fault restoration and critical service requests.
We urge everyone to follow the Ministry of Health's guidelines and stay safe. Connectivity has never been more important, and we are committed to ensuring Malaysia stays online. We will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
"Our network is the backbone for businesses and communities that depend on reliable connectivity now more than ever. We will not let them down." — Mohamad Syazwan, CEO, Extreme Broadband Sdn Bhd
