Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) is an optical transport technology that combines multiple data signals onto a single optical fibre by assigning each signal a different wavelength (colour) of laser light. This allows service providers and enterprises to dramatically increase the capacity of their existing fibre infrastructure without laying new cables.
